Hospitality Training Programme

The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India is pleased to announce short job oriented hospitality courses in the trades of (1) Food & Beverage Service and (2) Food Production of six weeks and eight weeks respectively for 8th class pass persons who are between the age of 18 and 25 years.

The two courses would be delivered by affiliated Institutes of Hotel Management and Food Craft Institutes of the National Council for Hotel Management. The courses would be conducted in batch size of 25 to 30 students while the selection would be through application received on first come first served basis.

While there is no course fee, students would be paid stipend of Rs.1500/- for Food & Beverage course andRs.2000/- for Food Production course upon attaining minimum 90% attendance. Upon completion of the course test would be conducted by the National Council and Certificate awarded. The institutes would make effort to organize campus recruitment by trade organizations for employment.

The first program is likely to start in mid August 2009. Interested persons may apply in the format indicated below so as to reach the Principal, Institute of Hotel Management, Ahmedabad- Gandhinagar Highway, (Between Koba & Infocity), Bhaijipura, P.O.- Kudasan,

Skill Testing and Certification Programme

The Institute conducts the above program under the Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India’s scheme for Cooks and Waiters from the Hospitality Industry who have been practicing their Art for years with out Formal Education and Certification of their Expertise.

Brief Components of the Scheme:
  Title: Ministry of Tourism – National Hospitality  Skill Certificate
  Field/Trades: Practicing Service providers both in formal and informal sectors in two categories of:
(1) Cooks
(2) Waiters
  Eligibility: Those working in an Eating establishment including hotels, restaurants, dhabas,
canteens, guest houses, clubs
  Age: No upper age limits but must be working
  Method of Certification:

Participants will attend 5days orientation at one of the designated IHMs followed by skill and oral test.

  Fee & Stipend: There is no fee. The testing IHM would pay participant stipend of Rs. 200/- per day during the orientation program of 5 days followed by test.
